Rev. Dave Barfield
Teaching ElderDave was born and raised in the Philadelphia area. After studying music in college and graduate school, he pursued ministry in foreign missions and church music. He then studied at Reformed Theological Seminary (Orlando) and is ordained in the Rocky Mountain Presbytery (PCA). He accepted the call to pastor HPF in the Summer of 2024, and his family has been an active addition to the church. When not reading and studying for sermons, Dave enjoys all things outdoors, all things soccer, and all things Chinese. He and his wife, Jess, have two great kids, Judah and Paisley. They love spending time together as a family traveling and enjoying the Colorado sunshine.
Gordon Hamilton
Ruling ElderGordon was born as a missionary kid in Palestine and lived for 12 years in the kingdom of Jordan. He was commissioned in the United States Army upon his graduation from Wheaton College, in Illinois. He served 28 years as a professional logistician, retiring in 2004 after a tour of duty in Baghdad, as Deputy Brigade Commander. Gordon joined the securities industry in 2004, turning his long-time passion for financial planning into his profession, retiring in 2024. Gordon considers himself very fortunate to be married to his wife Sophie, from Nijmegen, the Netherlands. They have two great kids: Greg, who works in Salinas, California, and Danielle, who is a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserves, stationed in the UK. Gordon’s passions continue to be taking care of soldiers and their families, working to better the lives of the children in his community, and taking care of his church family and missionaries around the globe. He was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the PCA in July 2025.
Rusty Hopper
Ruling ElderA long time Colorado resident, and Falcon resident since 1996, Rusty grew up in Northern New Jersey and joined the U.S. Air Force after high school. He met his wife, Chris, while stationed at the Cheyenne Mountain Complex, and they decided to stay in Colorado to raise their two sons. Rusty had a successful career as a tire wholesaler and kept himself busy as a Boy Scout leader and race car (or dirt bike) racer, traveling all over the Rocky Mountain region to compete. Since retiring, he likes to travel on his Harley with Chris on the back and explore Colorado’s back roads on a dirt bike. Shotgun shooting and pistol competitions are also regular activities for him. Rusty and Chris joined High Plains Fellowship in 2020 and have called it “home” since then. He was ordained as an elder in 2025, and his wife teaches in the children’s ministry. They are both active in bringing the Gospel to the Falcon area.
CL Spears
Deacon, TreasurerCL was raised in Oklahoma before serving in the U. S. Marine Corps. He went on to complete degrees in computer technology and worked as a computational statistician. In retirement, he loves to spend time with his wife, Susie, and riding his horses. CL has faithfully served as a deacon for many years at HPF, and he is dedicated to caring for the needs of the church.
John Buchanan
DeaconJohn is a construction manager for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and serves as a Chief Warrant Officer in the Army Reserve. As a Navy brat, he grew up in eight different locations throughout the globe. John enlisted in the military in 2005 and has two combat tours in Iraq and one in Afghanistan. He has executed various assignments in Germany, Jordan, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovenia, and South Korea. John holds a Bachelor of Science in Construction Management from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, a Master of Business Administration from Colorado State University-Pueblo, and is a graduate of the Warrant Officer Senior Service Education course at Fort Rucker, Alabama. John lives in Falcon, Colorado with his wife Katy and their three kids. When not building things for Uncle Sam, he enjoys dirt bikes, fitness, and biblical hermeneutics (which turned him into a presbyterian).
